I am lucky enough to live in an area with many, many lakes and when it comes to fun on the water, if, like me, you can't really afford a boat, there's nothing better than a paddleboard. The paddleboard is inflatable and it sounds like it will burst in the face of the sharp branches floating in the lake, but it is much stronger than you might think. It has several internal sections that allow you to roll it up and stuff it into a bag while keeping it strong. It's 11ft 6in long, 2ft 6in wide and 6in deep, which makes it easy to keep standing even on the water. The top in particular has a non-slip coating which allows it to stand firm even when wet. It takes a minute or two of manual pumping to inflate, and the dial on the pump lets you know how much air is in the board. Once inflated, you slide the fins to the bottom, tie the lifeline around your ankle or wrist and the other end to the board and you're ready to go. It buoys exceptionally well in the water and its width helps you to keep a good balance on the board, even when you are on top. The paddle is a good length and can be adjusted to fit most people, with the flat end wide enough to help propel you through the water and the other end having a 'T'-like end to help you hold the paddle better. When you are on the water you need to be confident in what keeps you on the water and I felt very confident when paddling with it. Once you've finished paddling then the thing can simply be deflated and rolled up ready to be put back in your pack and taken away. You get more than just an inflatable board, you get a collapsible paddle that is made of carbon fibre and can be extended to fit most body types. A hand pump that will blow this board up in minutes. A removable fin that plugs into the base. You also get a waterproof pouch for your phone, all of which can be easily tucked into the large bag included.
te*****pyI chose the Blue version of this Portal SUP although I wasn't totally sure about the design but in reality it's a fun and funky looking SUP and I'm very happy. Also happy that the Blue one is very slightly wider and straighter-sided than the other choices because I think it makes it slightly more stable and gives a slightly larger safe (less tip-prone) area to stand and all of that's useful for beginners. Beginners also get pretty much everything they need to start with this kit too and the only additional thing I'd recommend (apart from a buoyancy aid to wear) is some kind of electric air pump to make it easier to inflate and deflate. The included pump is actually very good and the air hose fixes securely into the valve in the board (unlike some) which makes life easier. It still takes a fair effort to get it fully inflated and I use a pocket-sized air pump to do maybe 80% of the work just leaving me to bring it up to full pressure, there's a PSI meter on the pump to let you know when to stop. Once inflated there's a good sized foam 'deck' on top with a textured surface to prevent slips and that's even more effective if you've got water shoes or similar to wear. I'm tall but the included paddle can be extended to (just) about the right length for me and of course can be reduced for smaller people. The removable fin uses an unusual but effective screw-fixed bracket, it works well but if you ever need to buy a replacement fin it might be difficult to find, most replacements seem to use the more common slide and latch style. The basic construction is really good and it feels rigid and secure in use. The D-rings are well attached, the seams are all good and you get the requisite bungees to stow your gear. The bundled 'essential' smartphone case seems more splashproof than waterproof to me but it's still useful to have. The repair kit is really just two pieces of fabric for patching a burst board but you don't get the (probably solvent-based and so controlled) cement y
I*** MThe paddleboard was well packaged with all the parts listed included. The board appears to be in good condition. There are a few minor aesthetic issues (as pictured) but they don't seem to harm the product. It is very easy to attach the pump to the board and inflate it using a simple twist and lock system. The pump has two modes, one prioritising comfort and the other a time mode which is a terrific feature. It is handy to have the recommended pressure information printed on the design of the board. I inflated the paddleboard for at least 24 hours (as recommended) and the pressure held up very well with no loss of pressure. The paddleboard feels secure and sturdy and the textured padding provides a lot of comfort if you are paddling barefoot. The paddleboard itself is easy to attach together and has a large custom area to accommodate different heights, or if you choose to sit or stand. The extra fins are easy to attach and remove, as are the ankle harnesses. The ankle harness has a lot of padding so it doesn't feel uncomfortable to wear. The product is very light weight and ideal for carrying a paddleboard to and from the water. The product is easy to deflate and can be further deflated by using the deflation function on the pump. Once deflated and rolled up, the product is simply held in place by the included harness, which makes it easy to carry in the bag with all your accessories and belongings. The product includes a puncture kit and waterproof phone case, which I think is a nice bonus. It's a great option for beginners looking to take up paddleboarding!
Jes*******wsonThis board is an amazing deal! It is easy to balance on and paddle with. I used it on calm water and water with some waves and it was easy to maintain balance, but your experience may be impacted on your level and experience. It comes with a great bag to store everything and keep it compact and transportable, and the pump is decent. The rear fin is easy to put on and take off. I used an electric pump to fill it with air until it looked full, and then finished pumping it up to 14 psi with the manual pump that comes with it.
Han******edeIt's the perfect colour, I love the shape, it's light, great quality and it treads the water like nothing is wrong! It is honestly the best board a beginner could ask for! Everything fits nicely in the carry bag. It is easy to clean and store. The pump is very good quality but it's a manual pump so it's still a lot of work to use, which is what I would expect! And a pleasure to work with the online shop! I've only taken my board out once! I only took my board out a couple of times last summer before I lost the removable fins. I was scared because I knew it was basically useless and would be even harder to use. Now it's summer and I've been wanting to get out again! I was going to hold my breath and buy a brand new board, but I decided to see if the company had a replacement I could buy. I sent them a link to the board I had bought, a screenshot of the invoice and an explanation of what I was looking for. Later that day they got back to me asking for my shipping information as they were going to send me a new fin for free! I sent my info and the next day I got a tracking number! I was very happy! I am very happy and have decided that all future purchases of surfboards will be from Portal Outdoors! Thank you Discount Online Store for providing me with such a great surfboard and customer service experience! P.S. - Portal SUP's inflatable paddleboards are Border Collie approved!
A***enCouldn’t be happier with this paddle board. It is incredibly comfortable well made and once pumped up it feels and looks very sturdy! It’s easy enough to get the hang of and can be used by a beginner and experienced user alike. It takes about 5-10 mins to set up once you’re familiar with the process. The colours are deep and well contrasted so you stand out amongst other SUPs whilst also being incredibly well designed and made. After using this a few times my only issue was with the paddle that came with it which feels a little flimsy in comparison to the paddle board. Apart from this it is a perfect unit with a nice big bag to store everything you need with it.
l**iThis is a great product. It comes with its own bag/rucksack and incredibly it's easy to fold. Everything fits in the bag, including the pump and other accessories. The full bag weights 15kg, so not too harsh on your back. The only suggestion I give is to carry a low pressure electric pump with you, the ones that can be plugged in the cigarette lighter socket in the car. Then fully inflate with the supplied pump to correct pressure. Failing that, it will take you about 20 minutes to fully inflate the board and you'll be too knackered to use it. LOL The paddle is made of aluminium, so very light and strong. Good addition is the dry pouch which is very useful for keys and mobile phone. It's a professional board 3 metre long, so keep that in mind.
Ale******verFantastic board, good length and very stable. This is a great quality board and very good value for money.
